WRI is currently recruiting an intern for the President's Office. The President works with leaders in government, business, and the non-profit community to forge alliances that further the Institute's work; with media to spread WRI's messages; and internally with staff on the development of programming. We encourage applications from detail oriented individuals with excellent organizational skills. This position is best suited to a recent graduate in environment, energy, and/or development studies or communications. Demonstrated interest and coursework in environmental topics is essential.
This internship provides administrative support to the President and the President's Special Assistant. The successful candidate will work primary with the President's Special Assistant but will work closely with both. This is an opportunity to gain work experience at one of the world's leading environment and development organizations, and to gain exposure to a broad array of topics, including climate change, environmental governance, sustainable transport and business, forests and ecosystems, and sustainable development.
The intern will gain experience in the following areas:
Prepare briefing materials, and generally assist the President's Special Assistant in helping WRI's President prepare for meetings and travel.
Assist with calendar management, travel plans, and expense tracking for the President.
Longer term project to work with the President's Research Assistant on the development and maintenance of a database and library the President's PowerPoint presentations.
Additional tasks and special projects as needed.
Ideal candidate will have recently completed an undergraduate/graduate degree in environmental studies, development studies, or communications with a grade point average of at least 3.4/4.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Outlook and additional Microsoft Office Suite products.
Can work well under pressure and juggle multiple assignments.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Resourceful and dependable.
Final candidate will be required to take a writing test.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
