Youth Programs Social Media Internship Description
World Learning is an 80-year-old global non-profit with operations in 77 countries. Through its award-winning international education programs - The Experiment in International Living, the SIT Graduate Institute, SIT Study Abroad, and the International Honors Program (IHP) - World Learning fosters global citizenship by connecting over 3,000 young ambassadors annually across cultural differences and social barriers.
The World Learning Youth Development Unit has as its mission to bridge cultures and promote citizen diplomacy and understanding across nations through the design and delivery of customized student exchanges that are a few weeks up to one academic year in length. These programs expose participants to cross-cultural understanding, leadership development, and civic responsibility. Interns work closely with program teams on design, implementation, and monitoring of programs for participants from more than 25 countries visiting the United States under grants from the U.S. Department of State''s Office of Citizen Exchanges, US embassies, and other funders.
Position Title: Social Media Intern, Youth Programs
Reports to: Program Officer/Intern Coordinators, Youth Programs
Location: Washington, DC
Start Date: May 12, 2014 - August 29, 2014
Time Commitment: Full-time with some flexibility to telework
Compensation: Unpaid and/or academic credit (travel stipend available)
Duration: 3 months with the possibility of an extension
The Youth Development Team is looking for one qualified candidates to join the team a social media intern in our Washington, DC office for Summer 2014. The social media intern will become involved in all aspects of social media across all programs in our portfolio. The internship may include the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
o Manage, update, and grow youth programs social media portfolio, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr
o Assist with the management of program photographs through use of Flickr;
o Create, manage, and edit content on the Youth Programs blogs
o Further develop and implement the social media strategy for youth programs;
o Conduct trainings for the youth team on social media tools and best practices;
o Research industry social media methods and best practices;
o Coordinate social media posts with program interns to enhance visibility of program activities;
o Represent the youth team on issues related to social media and coordinate with other World Learning units on best practices;
o Generate unique content for newsletters and blogs;
o Provide regular analytics updates to program staff;
o Coordinate and maintain alumni communication and activities;
o Provide assistance to youth team in social media components of the program; and
o Handle other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
o A completed undergraduate degree in a related field or substantial work toward the degree;
o Office work experience and strong computer skills, including Excel;
o Ability to use social networking tools to communicate;
o Familiarity with analytics tools;
o Strong cross-cultural, verbal, and written communications skills;
o Detail-oriented with excellent organizational ability;
o Energetic and strong team player;
Qualifications:
o Familiarity with TerraDotta, InDesign, Photoshop, Publisher desirable;
o Significant International travel and cross-cultural experience desirable;
o Experience with international student programs, event management, or youth programming desirable.
o International travel/work experience; and
o Foreign language skills (Arabic, Kurdish, Russian, Spanish, etc.).

The Youth Development Team is looking for up to four qualified candidates to join the team as interns in our Washington, DC office for Summer 2014. Interns will assist with the administration, implementation, and/or monitoring of educational and leadership training programs for high school youth and adult mentors. The internship may include the following responsibilities:
o Arrange program logistics both in the US and abroad (air and ground travel/hotels/meeting space);
o Conduct research to identify appropriate program components and assist in the preparation of programs;
o Develop prospective program calendars and itineraries;
o Process financial documents;
o Maintain comprehensive program files;
o Engage with participants through email and social media platforms;
o Accompany and interact with participants during DC program segments;
o Contribute to program blogs, including reviewing and editing student submissions;
o Assist with the implementation of programs outside of Washington, DC;
o Assist with the preparation of program materials for participants, along with entering and editing data for database;
o Provide backstop support to program teams;
o Complete other assigned tasks as needed and requested by team members and intern coordinators.
Required Qualifications
o Proven written and oral English communication skills, including public speaking experience and strong writing skills;
o Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications;
o Excellent attention to detail;
o Superior interpersonal, communication, cross-cultural, organizational, and time-management skills;
o Ability to take initiative, be flexible, and work independently and with a team;
o Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, coordinate activities in multiple locations, and to prioritize competing tasks;
o Ability to utilize and engage participants on various social media platforms (Twitter, YouTube, blogs, etc.)
o An undergraduate degree or substantial work toward a degree.
Desired Qualifications
o Previous work and/or interest in the youth sector;
o International travel/work experience;
o Foreign language skills (Arabic, Kurdish, Russian, Spanish, etc.);

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
