The BLS is an independent national statistical agency that collects, processes, analyzes, and disseminates essential statistical data to the American public, the U.S. Congress, other Federal agencies, State and local governments, business and labor. The BLS also serves as a statistical resource to the DOL.
The incumbent serves as a Technical Writer-Editor in the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Office of Publications and Special Studies (OPUBSS), Division of Publishing Services, Special Publications and Monthly Labor Review Branches. In this position, the incumbent edits articles and publications concerning facts, analysis, and research in the field of economics and the related areas of economic statistics, specifically, employment, inflation, wages, compensation, productivity, staffing patterns in various occupational and industrial settings, survey methodologies, and numerous other aspects of the American and international economic and social conditions.
This position has promotion potential to the grade GS-12 level.
This position is inside the bargaining unit.
This position will not be filled until the Department''s Placement Assistance Program has been fully utilized.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
