Individuals who have been accepted for enrollment or are enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in an accredited educational institution on a full or half-time basis. Pathways Internship Program Full-Time This position is located in Washington DC with Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), Office of the Administrator (OA), Civil Rights Staff (CRS).
Applicants must be available to work a regular schedule when classes are in session as well as during scheduled breaks.
The Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed. Students who successfully complete the program may be eligible for conversion to a permanent job in the civil service. U.S. Citizenship Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered with the Selective Service. Proof of student status must be submitted with the application. All applicants must be in good academic standing. As a condition of employment, a background investigation may be required. The duties may include, but are not limited to:
Studies the mission, functions, programs, and activities of the Agency sufficient to carry out a variety of technical and administrative support assignments encompassing the range of program activities of CRS.
Reviews requests for information and gathers responsive materials from files and records. Searches, assembles, and summarizes information as required from files and documents, as requested, or in anticipation of program/the supervisor's needs.
Prepares and disseminates a wide variety of program/civil rights/equal employment data and information concerning the nature and goals and objectives of CRS programs to interested and/or requesting parties as well as potential users of the Agency's services.
Gathers and prepares materials for workshops, seminars, and meetings with a wide variety of organizations for use by the supervisor and/or his/her representative(s).
Collects and summarizes input from groups or individuals through surveys, group meetings or studies, and prepares summaries for the Program's/supervisor's use. Performs data entry of Program information into established spreadsheets or other software formats.
Prepares routine and special reports which require searching and compiling a variety of information from files and other readily available sources.
Organizes and maintains files and records, manuals, handbooks, and other related materials related to the substantive program matters of CRS and AMS.

A Pathways Participant Agreement will be required if you are selected for a position. The agreement must be signed by all applicable parties prior to entrance on duty.

Schedule will be determined when student is selected: Hours of work will be between 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Category rating procedures will be used to rank and select eligible candidates. The following quality categories will be used: Best Qualified, Well Qualified, and Qualified. Within each quality category, veterans'' preference eligibles will receive selection priority over non-veterans.
Your final category placement will be based on your responses to the assessment questionnaire.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
