This position is with the Material Control Branch of the Supply Division for the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) located in Washington D.C. The Material Control Branch is responsible for the operations relating to the physical control of materials and equipment required y NRL. As the Property Disposal Technician, the position provides administrative support by preparing disposal documentation for material that is surplus to the needs of NRL. You must be a US Citizen. Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance. Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation. Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period. You must obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Prepare disposal documentation for material that is surplus to the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL).
Use database systems to process the organization''s disposal requests and to create, track, and finalize documents.
Research appropriate categorization codes of materials using a range of sources and maintain filing system for disposal documentation.
Utilize organization''s handbook to ensure all documentation is completed accurately and timely and all equipment is compliant with standards.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Maintaining filing systems; (2) Preparing disposal documents for surplus material, vehicles, lab equipment, and appliances; (3) Scheduling useable and scrap property turn-ins with disposal company; and (4) Preparing forms for removal of materials.
OR
Have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level in any field leading to a bachelor''s degree or have obtained a bachelor''s degree from an accredited college or university.
OR
Have some specialized experience as described above but less than one year, and have post-high school education as described above in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e. beyond the second year) that totals at least one year. (Note: One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience).
