Job Summary
The Editor role provides exceptional
substantive editing, copyediting, proofreading, copywriting, and usability
services for all types of CEB publications on multiple platforms. In addition, the Editor also creates
training and coaches staff on grammar, style, writing, legal compliance, and
CEB voice.
Key
Responsibilities
Editing, Quality
Assurance, and Writing
Copyedit and proof
iterations of all varieties of CEB deliverables (e.g., studies, research
briefs, marketing and presentation materials) from across the company.
At times intensively rewrite
or write deliverables to address sentence structure, clarity, jargon,
grammar, etc. and to adhere to CEB style.
Provide copywriting for
specialized content areas for CEB-wide clients (e.g., for e-learning
modules, web content, marketing, internal staff communications).
Effectively influence final research output by assessing
internal clients' writing across the firm, from analyst to senior director
levels and, at times, beyond.
Ensure quality of CEB
deliverables at final stage before printing.
Own the upkeep of the
CEB Manual of Style and assess need for rule changes based on Chicago
style updates and current usage recommendations.
Project
Management
Set editing timelines
with internal clients--negotiating priorities and expectations--and update a
shared calendar accordingly.
Manage projects to
deadline by coordinating with design staff and internal
colleagues--collaborating across time zones with global colleagues when
necessary.
Balance editorial workload
across a global team.
Work across departments
to keep track of brand and design standards and ensure consistent
application.
Serve as a reliable
backup to department management for resources and editorial needs.
Coaching
Assess writing and
grammar and deliver feedback to research staff in person and on the phone.
Create training
curriculums (e.g., proofing, grammar, writing, and CEB voice) based on
assessed need of CEB staff.
Educate staff on member
sign-off and copyright protocols (e.g., approved photography, video,
audio, or other assets) and escalate to Legal when appropriate.
College degree in a
related discipline and 1-2 years' experience in proofreading/copyediting
field
Familiarity with the
Macintosh platform preferred
Writing and/or grammar
coaching experience
Project and expectation
management experience

Thorough knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style, grammar, and best practices in writing
Understanding of the importance of house style and templates
Keen eye for detail
Positive, solution-oriented approach to problems
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to perform gracefully under pressure and meet inflexible or shifting deadlines
Superior customer service ethic and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills?
Availability to work occasional overtime
Ability to perform as part of a team as well as individually
Experience with book-length publications preferred

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
