Job Description Exelis, Information Systems, is seeking a Network Systems/ Security I/A Engineer to support a scientific research and development environment at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, located in Washington, DC, just off of 295 near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.
The candidate should be able to perform/support the following tasks:
Follow DoD 8570/NRL/Navy instructions to maintain an IA compliant network.
Follow test plans and procedures and assist or perform IA scans, communicates risks and issues.
Works to ensure IA is integrated into PC, Mac and UNIX-based networked systems.
Coordinates with NRL employees to ensure all applicable updates, patches and modifications are performed and that security requirements are adequately addressed (to include hardware and software specific requirements). Additionally, coordinate with others on the teams to ensure that the security and systems requirements have been implemented.
Stay up to date with all OS, security-related updates, provides inputs to decision makers on how they will impact network and/or research operations and equipment. Review and assess IA/security, system and/or network upgrades, updates and related requirements.
Coordinates with division POCs as necessary, to ensure systems meet security related requirements.
Ability to perform basic system maintenance, add/remove memory cards, hard drives, install software, and patches when needed, write scripts.
Required
Experience: Minimum requirements are 5
years of related network and security engineering experience with BS Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. Without a degree 9 years of experience is required; technical certifications and Military experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Technical skills should include:
- Knowledge and IA experience preferred.
- Systems and network administration experience; systems should include (but not limited to) PC, Mac and UNIX OS.
- Install/remove h/w and s/w; configure new h/w and s/w
- Working knowledge of the NAVSEA INST DOD 8570.
- Working knowledge of NIST security guidance
Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must possess ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance which requires US citizenship. An active Secret clearance is required to start.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
