The position is located in the Office of Southeast Asia and the Pacific, at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. The incumbent formulates and develops U.S. policy positions on international trade and investment issues as they relate to Southeast Asian and Pacific countries. Initiates the development of trade policy regarding Southeast Asian and Pacific countries for consideration by higher level policy makers in the interagency trade policymaking process. The incumbent participates in the planning and formulation of negotiating positions and tactics to be taken by the U.S. government on a variety of trade issues during negotiations. The incumbent chairs or serves on trade-related subcommittees as appropriate. The incumbent prepares Congressional testimony, briefing materials, summary statements and speeches for the United States Trade Representative (USTR), both Deputy USTRs, Assistant USTRs, and other senior executives, as appropriate, on major trade issues. Explains and defends the Administration's trade policies to foreign governments, the public, press, and Members of Congress or their staffs. Significant foreign and domestic travel will be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. Experience: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade (GS-14) or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Examples of specialized experience are:
For the GS-15: (1) expert knowledge of U.S. trade policy; (2) expert knowledge of U.S trade and economic relations with Southeast Asia and the Pacific; (3) experience conducting negotiations on trade or international economic matters; (4) experience working effectively with other agencies in developing common goals and objectives to implement U.S. trade policy; and (5) ability to represent and defend trade positions through oral and written communications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
