We have a challenging opportunity for a Federal Affairs Consultant.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing an effective federal legislative and political strategy to achieve Xcel Energy's objectives. Responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with federal policymakers including members of Congress and their staff and executive branch officials. Position will research, monitor and anticipate public policy developments that impact Xcel Energy. Position will also work as a high level member of the Federal Government Affairs team.
Responsibilities
Research and make recommendations on legislative, political and industry developments that impact Xcel Energy customers, employees, and shareholders. Represent Xcel Energy at events as appropriate, including congressional hearings, policy briefings, etc.
Interface with internal stakeholders including operating companies and business units using traditional channels and social media; report on key policy and political developments and understand corporate objectives and messaging.
Support operations and growth of the Xcel Energy employee political action committee through political research, recruitment, attending political events, making presentations, etc.
Establish and maintain relationships with key officials that will further Xcel Energy's corporate objectives, particularly members of Congress within company service territory, House and Senate leadership, jurisdictional committees, regulatory agencies, and Washington, DC offices of service territory state governors.
Represent Xcel Energy before external stakeholders including trade associations, political groups, nonprofit organizations, etc.
Qualifications: Required
Bachelor's degree in business, political science, public policy, engineering, or related field.
5-10 years experience working in or with federal or state government, at least 2 years working in the energy industry in a government affairs, communications, or equivalent position.
Strong verbal and written communications skills, demonstrated ability to perform legislative research.
Ability to understand and articulate business operations and positions.
Preferred
Graduate degree preferred.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
