An exciting opportunity for a seasoned public relations expert, Hill+Knowlton Strategies (H+K) is searching for an exceptional General Manager to lead our thriving Washington DC office / operations. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for a dynamic visionary who is well connected within the DC area political scene. In this GM role, you will work closely with other leaders throughout the H+K global network to unlock business opportunities in DC and beyond.
Our ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with proven ability to develop and implement successful campaigns, manage complex client relationships, and lead individuals, teams, and a P&L.; Primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Building relationships and providing wisdom / counsel to our clients.
Finding, training, managing and leading a cross-functional team of professionals.
Solidifying and/or growing the existing client base, particularly among DC-based business, trade associations, and corporate government/public affairs leaders.
Identifying and directing new business efforts across the US region.
Running the day to day operations and financials of the office.
Assessing broad client business problems and effectively integratingresearch, digital, and content ?into our business solutions for our clients.
The position will work closely with our EVP of the Eastern Region and our US CEO.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will exhibit the ability to think strategically and act tactically to manage and build an innovative office that supports H+K, its clients, and staff. He or she will be organized, creative, independent and enterprising with a deep knowledge of the Washington market, and extensive skills in winning political and corporate campaigns and savvy, ideally in the corporate, financial and advisory space.
More specifically, the primary responsibilities of this leadership position involve the following:
_Leadership
Talent Management:_
The successful candidate is expected to exhibit strong leadership and management skills, providing quality mentorship for the people reporting to him / her. The GM will ensure the continued growth and success of H+K Washington DC by proactively managing staff performance and providing quality training, challenges and career growth opportunities for employees. The GM will also drive the overall financial performance of the office through proper stewardship of the business with a focus on profitability and growth.
_Client Management:_
The optimal candidate must be creative; client focused, and have a passion for managing complex businesses and business relationships. The General Manager will be expected to provide a strong presence, force of personality, and thoughtful strategic counsel to C-suite clients. He/she must help mid-level staff to do the same, lending the necessary time and support to help accounts/account executives realize their full potential and ensure profitability.
_New Business_ :
The General Manager must be able to actively and aggressively develop new business prospects, present capabilities and close new business opportunities for the office. The winning candidate must have extensive knowledge of Washington and a robust book of contacts to help H+K continue growing the business.
_Campaign Leadership:_
The General Manager will be able to recognize and capitalize upon the various offerings within our integrated firm including micro-targeting, creative, analytics, digital, media and public policy. We are looking for an innovator who can pull it all together into an impactful campaign that will move our client's interests.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
The ideal candidate must be well established in government and politics and may have experience in a successful communications agency or management consultancy, with previous experience growing a book of business and leading diverse professional teams. He/she will be expected to deliver results quickly.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skill set and attributes:

Experience:_
A minimum of 15-20 years of senior level experience, ideally with both PR agency and client side experience.
The preferred candidate will have experience in corporate and public affairs, with a strong referral network. Having expertise in additional areas that are complementary to our DC client base, including crisis, healthcare and technology, is not required, but would be preferred.
_Leadership and Management:_
A demonstrated ability to grow a public relations organization, including managing the office P&L; allocating the appropriate resources to client accounts; and promoting the brand in the marketplace.
Leadership qualities that instill respect with key client contacts and inspire others within the organization to do their best work.
_Communications:_
Persuasive communications skills, both oral and written.
Excellent presentation skills and a strong writing style.
Proven ability to craft traditional media and digital campaign strategy.
