This position will help World Vision (WV)'s Private Funding and HEA team respond to rapid onset and chronic emergencies by acquiring resources to support World Vision's international operations. Develop donor relationships and directly support field teams in grant acquisition efforts through concept paper development, program design, and proposal writing. Position WV as the NGO of choice for government, multilateral, and private donors. Help carry out our Christian organization's mission, vision, and strategies. Personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.This position will be based in Washington D.C.
Duties include
Acquisition:
Lead and maximize the acquisition of emergency funding from assigned donor group: US Government, multilateral, or private and non-government donors. This position will have primary responsibility for acquisition from multilateral donors, such as UNHCR, OCHA, and UNICEF.
Engage with field colleagues to develop, revise and finalize concept papers and proposals for submission to US Government, Multilateral, or private donors.
Deploy to assist National Offices in program design and proposal writing.
Coordinate with WVUS core team (Programs, Contracts, and Finance) to ensure the successful submission of high-quality proposal documents.
Collaborate with donor representatives and/or marketing product managers to develop and/or align resource acquisition strategy and plans.
Build and maintain relationships with WVI HEA partners to enhance their understanding of WV's strategy for engagement with assigned donors.
Foster collaboration between field-based HEA leadership and field based donor representatives.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, issues, and discussions related to donor practices and policies.
Provide recommendations on the strategic use of non-sponsorship grant match to acquire grants.
Engage relevant HEA Operations colleagues to ensure strategic alignment of targeted grant funding.
Program Quality and Strategic Positioning:
Foster professionalism through the identification of emerging best practices in humanitarian sectors and the promotion of their use in emergency projects.
Provide support to HEA Operations team on the technical review and finalization of response strategies, plans and budgets as needed.
Represent WVUS in external working groups and donor outreach, as determined by supervisor.
Represent sector and project portfolio at donor/fundraiser events and meetings, review emergency focused marketing materials, and answer questions for internal stakeholders.
Serve as part of the Global Surge Capacity Network (GSCN).
Participate in targeted WVI Communities of Practice.
Work with colleagues to ensure strategic and technical integration of emergency funding streams with other WVUS programming.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Keep informed of organizational announcements, activities and changes via regular reading of the WVUS Intranet and other corporate communication tools.
Keep Christ central in our individual and corporate lives. Attend and participate in the leadership of devotions, weekly Chapel services, and regular prayer.
Required Skills
Ability to apply skills and paradigms appropriately in a relief or chronic humanitarian emergency context.
Proven work experience in grant writing and other relevant skills.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate collaboration in complex settings required.
Computer skills required.
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (eight years).
Master's degree in related field such as international relations, social sciences, etc. preferred.
A minimum of five years of related work experience required.
