Full-time Career/Career Conditional The purpose of this position is to provide a wide range of professional economic analysis within the Office of International Affairs. Specifically, the incumbent: (a) monitors and assesses international economic developments; (b) analyzes international economic developments and policies; (c) provides briefings and policy recommendations on international economic or financial developments; and (d) comments on and ensures that policy materials are of a consistently high quality. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Prepares international economic background and briefing material for senior executive branch officials to use in intergovernmental and international meetings.
Coordinates briefing material and negotiating positions with other offices and agencies in the executive branch to ensure accuracy, currency, coherence, and completeness.
Analyzes international economic and monetary issues and policy recommendations at the request of senior Treasury officials for intended and unintended economic effects.
Participates in substantive aspects of formulating and implementing Department of the Treasury and U.S. Government policies pertaining to international economic organizations.
Ensures that materials prepared by others satisfy the quality protocols and requirements expected of high-level international economic briefings.
Education Requirements:
Basic education requirement:
A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR
B. Combination of education and experience- courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Examples of qualifying experience include: (a) individual economic research assignments requiring planning, information assembly, analysis and evaluation, conclusions and report preparation; (b) supervisory or project coordination assignments involving a staff of professional economists, and requiring the evaluation and interpretation of economic information; or (c) teaching assignments in a college or university that included both class instruction in economics subjects and one of the following (1) personal research that produced evidence of results, (2) direction of graduate theses in economics, or (3) service as a consultant or advisor on technical economics problems.
Experience in related fields that did not involve the use and understanding of economic principles and theories may not be used as qualifying experience for these positions.
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Relevant experience includes serving as a research assistant while pursuing post-graduate education or an internship, among other non-traditional jobs. Rating : There will be a two-phase rating process.
Phase 1: Your application will be initially evaluated in the following areas:
Ranking Factor 1. Skill in the analytical methods of international economics and public policy including but not limited to: macroeconomic analysis, statistics, econometrics, financial analysis, analysis of international trade, investment, development finance, climate finance, and public policy analysis (including policy recommendations).
Ranking Factor 2. Skill in the relevant substantive issue areas of international economics and public policy that includes but is not limited to: macroeconomics, development, climate, trade, investment, development finance, climate finance, and financial markets and institutions.
Ranking Factor 3: Oral and written communication skills evidenced by the ability to deliver clear, concise, and accurate written and verbal factual and analytical presentations to a variety of audiences. Phase 2: If you self-certify meeting the minimum qualification requirements, you will then be asked to complete a second assessment comprised of two narrative responses. Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
