This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Intelligence, NBSIC Analysis Division, located in Washington, DC. Law enforcement positions are expected to report to their duty station on a daily basis. However, due to COVID-19, some positions in CBP are currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, and you are given on an entrance on duty date you will be provided additional information on the reporting requirements of your position. The work carried out by this position engages in directing and coordinating the work of those involved in national and international intelligence programs and liaison activities. This position starts at a salary of $144,128.00(GS-15, Step 1) to $172,500.00 (GS-15, Step 10) with promotion potential to $172,500.00 (GS-15 Step 10). In this position you will serve as a key member of a team of Homeland Security professionals responsible for national and international intelligence programs. Your duties will include:
Directing and managing subordinate supervisory staff who are directly engaged in providing intelligence and analysis, operational support, and program management in service of the CBP IE. Collaborating with CBP operational offices, identifying intelligence requirements in support of the CBP Commissioner's priorities, and designing and executing intelligence functions as appropriate for the intelligence customer. Organizing, planning, directing, controlling, coordinating and managing a Supervisory Deputy Director and other subordinate supervisors. Reviewing the work of assigned supervisory staff for content and compliance with OI, CBP, and DHS policies, regulations, and procedures. Identifying requirements and initiating requests for additional resources including personnel, overtime, equipment, supplies, and space to ensure success in meeting Division goals and objectives. Supervisory Probationary Period:
You may be required to serve an 18 month probationary period upon appointment and complete a supervisory training course within 12 months of assignment. Supervisory Training:
All newly appointed GS-15 Senior Managers are required to complete mandatory training. The training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The CBP LI training will include five (5) weeks of in residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV. Note:
This training may be waived if previously completed. Qualifications You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Managing a subordinate supervisory staff who are directly engaged in providing critical strategic intelligence products on current and emerging border security threat matters Developing and implementing standard operating procedures particular to the strategic intelligence mission; Advising and providing counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management; Reviewing existing intelligence programs policies and procedures to determine whether or not they meet the requirements of current or newly implemented situations; Coordinating in and participating in agency, departmental, federal, international, and in intelligence community Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
