Controller at Niche.com in Remote
We are looking for a highly motivated Controller to play an integral role in the financial operations of our growing business. You will work closely with the rest of the Finance and Accounting teams to produce financial statements and to develop and maintain proper internal controls. You will also partner with various other department leaders in order to support decision making and planning based on financial results. This role will report to the Director of Finance. What You Will Do During the First Month:
Attend onboarding sessions to better understand our internal processes and learn about the company Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Operations, and Partnership team members to learn about the company, customers, and product offerings Understand the processes for order to cash and procure to pay cycles Learn the accounting systems including Sage Intacct, SaaSOptics, Quickbooks, Avalara, and Salesforce Within 3 Months:
Take ownership of the monthly financial close process from start to finish and produce accurate financial statements Identify key challenges facing the accounting team and develop new operations for a more efficient reporting cycle Partner with Finance and the leadership team to help leverage our financial performance to guide the business and decisions Complete monthly sales tax and general ledger account reconciliations Review and file various state and local tax returns leveraging Avalara and Paylocity Within 6 Months:
Work with our external accounting firm to complete the annual financial statement audit and annual tax returns, and provide required information Define key metrics to help analyze company performance and build reports to update automatically Collaborate with the People team on various compliance requirements such as the workers compensation audit, 401(k) plan audit Within 12 Months:
Review all accounting procedures and modify or implement new procedures in order to support the business through a fundraising event, merger, or acquisition Collaborate with Director of Finance on the growth of the Accounting organization, thinking through segmentation, process, and workflow Assess the systems and technology used in accounting and reporting to determine if it meets the needs of a rapidly expanding company What We Are Looking For Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and 10
years of experience working as part of an Accounting or Finance team CPA license is a plus Proficiency with accounting systems; must be proficient using Quickbooks Online or Sage Intacct Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM service is a plus Recent experience with a subscription or SaaS style company and customer reporting metrics Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office, specifically with pivot tables and formulas in Excel Proven ability to build a team and support a growing business Are you excited about the position and its responsibilities, but hesitant because your experience doesn't align 100% with the posted requirements?
