SUMMARYPrimarily responsible for analyzing and determining appropriate insurance coverage, limits and deductibles for contractual transfer of risks in all contracts and leases.
Reviews Insurance certificates submitted by all prime contractors, consultants, and anyone supplying goods and services to the Authority, to ensure compliance with Authority, District, Federal Regulations and General Specifications.
Candidate will also assist the Sr.
Risk Management Analyst with addressing specific claims matters.
Essential Functions:
Analyzes and determines appropriate insurance coverage, limits and deductibles on quotes or formal solicitations of bids and proposals for contractual transference of all risks in all Authority contracts.
Review and make recommendations regarding submittals received from bidders to determine responsiveness regarding proposed contracts from various departments and sections within the Authority to ascertain if bonding and insurance requirements have been satisfactorily met.
Obtains proper levels of insurance for projects or ensure current certificate is submitted from Contractor(s).
Interacts with brokers and insurance agents concerning forms and claims.
Reviews insurance certificates filed on behalf of all contractors, consultants, and anyone supplying goods and services to the Authority to ensure compliance and maintains files on same.
This may require the utilization of an electronic certificate tracking or management system.
Answers written and verbal inquiries concerning insurance requirements, including discussions with insurance agents.
Maintains an active file of vendors, contract/construction managers who deal with contractors, consultants, and anyone supplying goods and services to the Authority under contract.
Monitors and maintains contractor's insurance certificates.
Submits monthly report on insurance claims processed and reimbursements received.
Notifies Contractors, Contracting Officers Representative or Contract Managers when certificate is expiring and ensures new certificate is obtained or provided.
Assists the Procurement Specialist in identifying potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
Performs loss control scheduling, coordination, and activity tracking.
Works on problems of moderate complexity where guidelines, precedents, or higher-level management advice is readily available.
Handles special assignments and projects as necessary.
Assists the Sr.
Risk Management Analyst with managing the claims programs and related activities, which may include coordinating training sessions; performing limited review/evaluation of claims files; fielding customer claim calls, working with vendors concerning claims administration, and assisting with claims intake and emergency notification.
Performs other related duties and/or projects as requested by the Manager, Risk.

Interacts with contractors/vendors, employees throughout DC Water, insurance administrators, and representatives from other government organization.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE & OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
The minimum qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability necessary for an individual to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Reasonable amounts of training are provided.
Bachelor's degree in Business management or related field, from an accredited college or university, and three (3) years of relative insurance work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of multi-line insurance coverages, and the ability to read and interpret insurance policies and insurance certificates.
Basic knowledge of different types of additional insured endorsements.
Knowledge and understanding of the differences between construction agreements, professional service agreements and lease agreements, and a knowledge of the types of insurance required for each agreement type.
Ability to provide good customer service and handle queries from the public, and to work tactfully and effectively.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment by meeting deadlines and adjusting to changing priorities.
Ability to determine the type of insurance coverage and amount needed for each project.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
