SUMMARY The Data Scientist provides support to the United States Department of Agriculture, Farm Loan Program. This position will use expertise in statistical analysis, data transformation and statistical methodologies to conduct data pulls, perform data analysis, data modeling and econometric analysis for a variety of technical and non-technical efforts. This position will support a Senior Data Scientist and a team on a variety of task orders that involve large data sets of historic data living on multiple platforms to support a large-scale effort to improve data collection, management and reporting that enables data-driven insights and informs strategic decision-making. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Prepares and creates data files for USDA FLP stakeholders. Performs data pulls and analysis for USDA FLP. Conducts ad hoc data analysis, modeling or reporting as requested. Prepares data files in consultation with project officials and performs post-hoc analyses to validate results and identify additional data assessment needs. Provides data summary reports and data analyst support for miscellaneous data report requests. Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company. Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output. Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in a related field, master's preferred, and a minimum of four (4) years' relevant experience and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in data science, with at least one in a non-academic setting. If no master's degree in a related field, recent relevant certification may be considered with relevant experience. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGRISTRATION Ability to obtain government security clearance. U.S. Citizens/Green Card Holders only due to government or federal requirement. JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES Hands-on experience with Python, and preferably some data visualization software such as Tableau. Experience with common data science and numerical libraries in Python (i.e. NumPy, SciPy, SciKit-Learn). Must understand different statistical methodologies and good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc. Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, R, or Python required. Proficiency with predictive analytics on big data projects is a plus. Strong analytical skills, work ethic, independence, problem solving ability, effective communication skills, and overall positive attitude. Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft productivity tools. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task while under pressure. Functional knowledge and skill necessary to compose, lay out, and proofread data. Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with solid presentation and reporting skills. Ability to clearly and concisely communicate/explain information to a broad range of people with varying levels of technical expertise. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Data Science & Machine Learning, Systems Architecture & EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
