Legislative Analyst Team Lead

Full timeBloomberg Government is seeking an inspiring and engaging leader with experience and passion for breaking down complex policy information to guide our team of talented analysts and provide engaging and informative content to help government affairs professionals make decisions.
You will lead the legislative analyst team and will be responsible for managing schedules and deadlines, using your news judgment to make assignments and evaluate content, and editing the work itself or ensuring that others are handling copy.
You will drive the coverage from your group, evaluate and develop the staff, and work with other teams to find opportunities for collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities :
Drive analysts to produce bill summaries, OnPoints, and daily and enterprise news stories that are well-written, accurate, thorough, and timely.
Manage content from pitch to publication.
Exercise independent judgment and shape the coverage throughout the day, choosing the appropriate legislation to cover, directing reporting resources, setting deadlines and word limits, and helping to spearhead enterprise and analysis piece choices.
Coordinate with other teams to ensure analyst content appears in newsletters, across INDG products, and on the Bloomberg Terminal.
Review, evaluate and edit content, including stories from other teams that touch on issues covered by your team members.
Coordinate with the central news team to get graphics or videos where appropriate.
Select photos and tag stories as needed.
Work with team members to improve researching, writing and reporting skills.
Deliver feedback on content to analysts and editors that is constructive and thoughtful, often on tight deadlines.
Review our approach to content and use readership statistics and internal and external feedback to look for ways to improve how and what we write and engage additional audiences.
Encourage staff members to try new things and be open to change as we work to create a new culture across the news department.
Serve as an aspirational role model for staffers across all news desks.
Represent BGOV and INDG through media hits, in-person and remote events, and other speaking engagements, as appropriate.
Manage special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements :
Excellent leadership, news judgment, editing, and story-management skills.
Strong and thoughtful analytical and decision making, and the ability to assess which items need to be handled with urgency and which should be considered further.
Effective change management skills and ability to help drive the group.
Demonstrated ability to unpack complicated legal and government actions and help reporters make them interesting.
Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and influence news reporting and editing.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and ability to show those skills on tight deadlines.
Knowledge of digital news and information publishing operations.
Education and Experience :
Seven years of journalism or experience writing for a professional audience.
Five years experience with legislative and/or policy analysis, including coverage of the federal budget and appropriations process.
Ability to unpack complicated legal and government actions and help reporters make them interesting.
Demonstrated leadership and change-management skills and the ability to drive a group to achieve their goals.

A track record of success with editing and story or project management.
Strong sense of urgency to push reporters to quickly file important breaking news and then to edit and get those items to our customers fast.
A bachelor's degree in public policy, communications, journalism, or related fields.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
