IBM Mainframe Engineer - zOS and zVM - Remote
This position is 100% virtual/remote.
An Engineer in the Recovery Services Operations team works in a 24 7 global operating model.
In this role the engineer will be responsible for hardware provisioning, OS installation and configuration.
In addition to this, you will be responsible for working and collaborating with internal teams and executing the recovery procedures.
Responsibilities:
1.
Provides proficiency in IBM Mainframe under both Native zOS and zVM environments.
2.
Identifies and resolves problem in a timely manner and analyze information skillfully.
3.
Review technical recovery procedures for clarity and accuracy prior to recovery or test event.
4.
Execute customer-specific recovery procedures to restore operating system, applications and data.
5.
Create / Update SOP's and Knowledge Base Documents for respective platform.
6.
Responsible for providing clear and concise updates in the ticketing system in a timely manner.
7.
Lead/Attend the pre-test call and capture all the dependencies of the platform.
8.
Follow the escalation procedure promptly.
9.
Work supportively with colleagues, operating in a collegiate manner at all times and in line with the company's values.
10.
Provide on-call support whenever required.
Profile:
BA Degree or equivalent work experienceExtensive technical experience in a role involving direct customer contact (Internal and / or external customers.
Debug hardware and software issues associated with IBM Mainframe operations and recovery.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and network technologies and Ability to effectively use diagnostic tools as required.
Strong hands on working knowledge of the following Mainframe Software Components:
native recovery, Mainframe VM, Parallel Sysplex Coupling Facility, recovery of Mainframe specific application and database products.
zOS 2.
3 and previous versions, ZVM 7.
1 and previous versions.
Strong hands on working knowledge of the following Mainframe and related hardware:
IBM Z13 / EC13 and previous - IBM Power Systems, DASD, Tape, IBM Network Devices & Infrastructure (Brocade switches).
Willing to support a 24 7 Global operating model, by being flexible to render services whenever needed and willing to work in shifts/weekends.
Must be able to independently engage customers, vendors and peers.
Must be self-motivated and a team player.
Excellent technical communication skills both verbal and written.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
