She/he will play an important role in managing various aspects of capture and proposal development with an aim to prepare for and drive quality and competitive project designs for USG customers. She/he will also support the ongoing development of private sector and NGO partnerships and support organizational learning and development of technical community of practices. The Senior Manager will be based in Washington, DC and is expected to travel 25-30% of the time. Proposal Development Lead capture efforts for competitive USAID bids and drive the execution of technical design, teaming strategies and talent acquisition Fill key proposal team roles such as proposal lead Carry out field-based assessments in in close collaboration with technical expert consultants, field teams and Technical Directors Lead and orchestrate project design sessions incorporating theory of change to create compelling, innovative and customer responsive solutions. Write technical proposal sections, strategic analysis and program work statements for contracts and cooperative agreements; Ensure technical requirements and details are aligned with cost proposal development in close collaboration with finance and costing teams. Develop deep relationships with strategic partners and negotiate roles with sub-partners and negotiate roles with primes for Venture37 subcontractor roles Manage on-time, compliant and cost-effective delivery of proposals Ensure appropriate gender and inclusion analyses are utilized and gender and social inclusion considerations are incorporated into project design Customer and Partner Development Cultivate and deepen connections with contacts (both in the U.S. and in the field) for key customers:
USAID and USDA Maintain a deep expertise of agricultural development strategies, USAID Mission CDCS, USAID GFSS Develop robust customer engagement plans for a portfolio of USAID countries and Missions; work collaboratively with program and field teams to ensure effective execution of tactics Lead key customer and partnership meetings Maintain robust network of international NGO, local NGO, private sector and small business partners. Strategy and Pipeline Development:
Lead key sections of Design and Technical annual planning and support strategy with fact base and experiences to help guide target country and sector opportunities Develop and implement robust systems for knowledge and country specific capture to support pre-positioning efforts. Marketing Develop appropriate pitch decks that contain evidence base appropriate for audience (e.g. client, partner, key stakeholder) Conduct marketing trips to USAID and USDA staff in field and in Washington D.C. Develop strong understanding of key personnel within target country missions and points of influence Keep Venture37 collateral materials up to date and relevant for clients Represent Venture37 at industry events, panels and contribute to thought leadership via blogs and presentations. Required Experience/Knowledge (to be able to perform this job):
Bachelor's Degree in International Development, Agriculture, Economics or related field plus a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience, or combination of additional education and experience to total seven (7) years. Demonstrated understanding of emerging trends in international agriculture/economic development. Experience developing and working with public and private sector partnerships. Experience and knowledge designing competitive bids for USAID, taking on two or more proposals roles as a proposal lead; Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and develop program designs that are underpinned by causal models; Excellent writing skills with experience writing proposals and marketing materials:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Experience living and working in developing countries, particularly in Africa; Ability to work with people of varying cultures; Demonstrated ability to work as a team and provide leadership in group efforts; Proactive, detail oriented, flexible and able to focus and guide others in accomplishing time sensitive work objectives; Ability to travel and work effectively in developing world countries. Preferred Experience/Knowledge:
Masters Degree in International Development, Agriculture, Economics or related field Experience with USAID Feed the Future and/or USDA Food for Progress proposal development Experience with program management - especially USAID and/or USDA programs Experience working on projects with an agriculture focus; French and/or Portuguese language skills; Experience with other bilateral, multilateral or foundation donors. $150K -- $200K

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
