Internal to an agencyHelpDutiesThe Data Scientist applies knowledge of computer science, mathematical and statistical theories, techniques and methods to gather and analyze data to synthesize the diverse program requirements of each directorate within Management Services.
Uses quantitative methods and techniques to interpret and/or report quantitative information, trends, relationships and correlations among or within unstructured data sets.
Develops a single source data strategy to address the applied technology and system architecture requirements of Management Services.
The Data Scientist performs multiple, varying and complex assignments under the minimal direction of the team leader.
This work plays a critical role in Management Services continuing efforts to achieve process improvements and efficiency through data science and use of applied technology to achieve an integrated system architecture that includes people, processes, and technology requirements.
As a principal technical specialist for large work activities, the Data Scientist leads large project teams in the collection of large data sets and complex analysis of management information requirements to develop program or administrative reporting systems including the systems specifications, data gathering and analytical techniques, and systems evaluation methodology.
Uses physical database architectures and data design patterns to establish the technology strategy and road-map for the portfolio of data platforms, technologies and services across AJG.
Applies experience and comprehensive technical knowledge of applied technology as well as an understanding of new technologies and methodologies, to evaluate and recommend new technologies for data management, storage and analytics, to solve complex problems, and to develop improved technical processes or systems.
Applies experience using tools, emerging technology, and various data sources to perform exploratory analyses on new and archival data sources.
Combines and interprets large and/or complex data sets to develop data-driven organizational solutions.
Uses task and work flow analysis, such as Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) baseline standards to formulate processes and to compile data.
Conducts in-depth analysis, complex queries and visualizing data to compile complex data sets and disseminate results of the analysis for providing senior leadership and users with insights into historical performance.
Contacts are internal and external to AJG and include representatives from other ATO Service Units, FAA Lines of Business, and industry representatives.
Works with teams throughout AJG to lead the design, documentation and architecture efforts and other work activities.
Often represents AJG as the senior technical point of contact for the AJG data analytics maturation effort.
Plays a lead role in drafting, reviewing, and editing reports or contractual documents for final approval prior to external distribution.
Presents briefings to obtain consensus/approval on policies.
Coordinates significant technical matters with representatives of external organizations.
Although broad policies and objectives provide general guidance for addressing issues, the Data Scientist is allowed considerable discretion to develop new and innovative approaches.
Resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of management or a more experienced technical specialist.
Work is reviewed rarely, typically though status reports and at project completion, to ensure technical compliance and alignment with the requirements of the project or other work activity.

QualificationsTo qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-I, FG/GS-13 level.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
