Clarification from the agencyCurrent Permanent FAA EmployeesHelpDutiesServes as Division Director in the Safety & Integration Division, AUS-400, within the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Integration Office, AUS, with overall authority for administrative and technical direction of the assigned professional and technical staff.
Manages the work of a large, multi-level organization typically through subordinate managers.
Integrates work of multiple organizations to meet strategic goals of the organization and the FAA, participates in strategic planning for the FAA, and makes commitments (program, budget, etc) for a major organization.
The incumbent oversees branches that provide project and data management support for all UAS programs and activities managed or coordinated by AUS.
Directs the work of subordinate employees and/or managers for multiple organizational units/projects/programs and across multiple functions and/or disciplines within a major subdivision.
Facilitates the development of aviation safety rules, regulations, standards, programs, policies, and procedures as they relate to UAS operations and integration into the National Airspace System (NAS).
Facilitates the development of policy and guidance for components of new UAS, including ground station, avionics, aircraft, and pilot training and procedures.
He/she leads the review and evaluation of AUS' administrative and management operations in support of providing high quality, timely legal advice and services to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, policies, that reflect emerging best practices to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Promotes a learning organization that is able to adjust to rapid industry innovation.
Plans and conducts a wide variety of studies, projects, surveys, and evaluations that promote improvement in the Office.
Plans, organizes, evaluates, manages, and directs work to be accomplished by the branch managers, assuring that managers efficiently and effectively carry out their assigned functions.
In addition, supports other Divisions as necessary.
Sets priorities and prepares work schedules for completion of program goals in accordance with the organizational mission.
Develops long-range organizational concepts and plans, Develops current and near-term organizational standards necessary to implement these concepts and plans along with associated management goals, standards, and programs necessary to support that implementation.
He/she defines, acquires, and allocates budget, staff, and other resources to accomplish objectives for multiple organizational units/projects/ programs and across multiple functions and/or disciplines.
Manages budget and either reallocates resources among organizational projects/programs or acquires additional resources as needed.
Advises the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director on short and long-range resource requirements and strategic planning and provides advice from an operational standpoint on agency policies, keeping the Executive Director appraised of any planned or existing events or activities that could be politically significant or controversial.
Exercises authority for the full range of managerial responsibilities over the Division.
Provides guidance to subordinate managers and employees for preventing and resolving problems without the intervention of higher-level management except where LOB/SO or FAA-wide interests are at stake.
Develops and approves solutions to current and anticipated problems, which cross-organizational lines and disciplines.
Applies EEO concepts to managerial responsibilities and demonstrates ability to treat all employees in a fair and equitable manner.
Individual and organizational performance is typically reviewed periodically through organizational performance measures to determine success in achieving planned results.
Has broad discretion to ensure the alignment of all projects/programs with the tactical and strategic (short-term and long-term) objectives of the major subdivision and LOB/SO.

QualificationsTo qualify for this position at the L payband you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-K or FG/GS 15 in the Federal Service.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized experience may include but is not limited to:
Experience providing oversight, direction, and evaluation for aviation safety programs to ensure compliance with agency regulations, programs, procedures, and safety standards governing air operations.
Experience managing or leading employees and managers for more than one organizational unit.
Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
