Responsibilities The Travel and Transportation Division is responsible for the planning, management, administration and implementation of policies and procedures related to Peace Corps extensive international and domestic travel and transportation programs.
More specifically, the Division supports all particulars involved in the international and domestic travel and transportation throughout the world of over 7,000 Peace Corps Volunteers, overseas and headquarters staff, family members, and guests.
The Transportation Specialist performs the following major duties:
Transportation / Passenger Travel:
Serves as the Peace Corps Passenger Services Manager; advises customers on entitlements or procedures related to Peace Corps' official travel; Determines the scope and nature of actions required to resolve customer service problems and process transactions, based on experience and past practice.
Reviews applicable guidelines to consider options.
Approves routine actions, such as issuing refunds or rescheduling tours, which are within the scope of assigned responsibilities; Troubleshoots one or more areas that may be resistant to traditional approaches.
Corrects discrepancies based on extensive practical experience.
Makes recommendations to the Traffic Manager regarding new or revised operating procedures to meet changing business needs.
Develops and promotes positive working relationships with customer agencies and client personnel.
Support Services (Passports/Visas, and Commuter Benefits):
Serves as the Peace Corps Commuter Benefits Coordinator, assists customers with completing the requirements to obtain commuter benefits in authorized duty locations; Assists in examining claims due to loss and damage by or against Peace Corps, reviews and prepares documentation for adjudication by the Traffic Manager; Assists in auditing commuter benefit and parking accounts to identify fraudulent activities and reports fraud to the Traffic Manager; Serves as the Peace Corps Passport and Visa Coordinator; assists customers with completing the requirements to obtain Special Issuance passports and foreign visas as necessary for all official travel; answers inquiries and explains administrative procedures, Federal laws or regulations, and normal processing times, and current application status; examines applications submitted by individuals for accuracy prior to forwarding for processing; expedites actions on pending cases when necessary; Requirements Conditions of Employment Please read this announcement in its entirety prior to submitting your application for consideration.

Peace Corps employees are paid on the Foreign Personnel (FP) pay scale.

FP-05 Qualifying experience for the FP-5 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the FP-7 or GS-7 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience includes:
Experience advising customers on entitlements or procedures related to shipping and storage of household goods and equipment or files; Experience overseeing the preparation of purchase orders, reports and records; Experience assisting with the auditing of all commuter benefits and parking accounts to identify fraudulent activities and reports.
FP-04 Qualifying experience for the FP-4 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the FP-5 or GS-9 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience includes:
Experience advising customers on entitlements or procedures related to shipping and storage of household goods and equipment or files; Experience overseeing the preparation of purchase orders, reports and records; Experience assisting with the auditing of all commuter benefits and parking accounts to identify fraudulent activities and reports.
OR Qualifying based on education:
One full academic year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement is creditable for GS-7; 2 years or a master's or equivalent graduate degree is creditable for GS-9; and 3 years or a Ph.
D.
or equivalent doctoral degree is creditable for GS-11.
Superior Academic Achievement:
The superior academic achievement provision is applicable to all occupations covered by this standard.

Graduate Education:
Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university in the amounts shown in the table meets the requirements for positions at GS-7 through GS-11.
Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study.
If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.
Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.

html Additional Information Intelligence Background Information Peace Corps Manual Section 611 is applicable to this position.
