Position Overview WestEd is seeking a strong cross functional leader, influencer, and communicator to drive change and continuous improvement.
This role will provide critical support to the Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, develop business strategies to align the financial operations with the organizational goals of the agency, and to effectively communicate and collaborate across departments and divisions.
The Senior Manager-Financial Operations is also responsible for both leading and supporting a variety of key financial and project management activities related to strategic business decisions across WestEd's departments and divisions.
The candidate must have senior managerial/supervisory expertise, be able to communicate with and formally present to C suite and Board levels, and can create efficiencies and implement strategies that result in excellent departmental service to the Agency.
Candidates with an interest in applying corporate business practices to the non-profit sector within an organization whose mission is to improve the educational systems that serve children and families will appreciate this position.
Responsibilities:
Cross functional collaboration and change management Lead collaboration across departments and divisions to evaluate existing business processes, identify areas of improvement, and design innovative solutions; partner with the Senior Finance Manager and Division Financial Managers to ensure successful implementation across the divisions.
Lead collaboration between the Finance Department and divisions to ensure smooth business operations; ensure a continuous improvement approach by identifying the need for, contributing to the development of, and implementing policies and procedures focused on operational effectiveness and efficiency.
Work collaboratively with Institutional Development and Division Operations Directors to improve business development processes.
Work collaboratively to standardize, optimize and streamline financial reporting and data analysis to highlight key business components in support of WestEd's strategic, operational, and financial goals.
Training/Capacity Building Supervise, support, mentor, and/or develop staff within the division's operations and finance roles.
Oversee hiring and training processes to ensure a consistent and efficient recruitment experience.
Lead culture building and talent development efforts across the broader Finance team with a strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Financial Oversight and Leadership Lead collaborative budgetary initiatives to ensure successful implementation and compliance across all departments and divisions.
Oversee complex analysis and provide recommendations to the Director of Finance that support agency growth and process improvement, e.

, internal; managing proposal submission process and external; reviewing and analyzing new business opportunities and partnerships.
Contribute to the development of the agency's annual budget( 250M), including collaborating with Executives and Directors and supporting the presentation to the Executive and Board of Directors for approval.
Collaborate with the Senior Finance Manager and Division Financial Managers to forecast revenue, troubleshoot various project issues, and manage/track budgets and contracts related issues.
What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree or higher in finance/accounting.

years' experience with leading teams and process/systems improvement with proven results.
Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to operationalize initiatives and streamline/improve processes and practices to support strategic, operational, and financial goals.
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to work in a diverse work environment and various levels of management.
Strong skills and experience with enterprise financial planning and reporting tools Industry knowledge of federal grant programs, education law and regulations, education research, policy, and practice.
Ability to problem solve, think creatively, and apply new technologies.
Highest-quality collaboration skills for both internal and external clients, including excellent interpersonal communications, dependability, and reliability.
Must be a strong individual contributor as well as an effective team member and project leader.
Fluency and expert-level skill with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience with database querying and report writing is also desired.
Customer service attitude and approach to working with internal/organizational clients as well as external parties.
Experience with Adaptive Insights, Deltek Costpoint, and IBM Cognos reporting software is a plus.

SALARY AND
Benefits:
The full salary range for this position, WestEd level I, is $133,360 to $200,000, but WestEd does not typically hire at or near the top of the salary range.
The typical hiring range for this role is $133,360 to $166,700.
The actual offer takes into account multiple factors, including but not limited to education; experience; internal equity, and other organizational needs.
