Directs movement of consists within Ivy City Yard and coordinates movements with K-Tower Train.
Directors and Yard Conductors.
Directs the movement of a designated consist within the boundaries of the Ivy City Yard in accordance with Amtrak, NORAC, Association of American Railroads (AAR), FRA and FDA guidelines.
Coordinates the movement of consists with K-Tower Train Directors and Conductor (Yard) following all Amtrak/FRA safety and operating rules.
Essential Functions:
Reports pertinent data, both verbal and written, regarding employees and work progress, problems assigned to him to the immediate supervisor when required.
Continually observes, corrects and trains employees in all safety requirements and work operations related to consist trains in the yard.
Conducts safety briefings, observes safety compliance, maintains qualifications and coordinates with other departments.
Works within the guidelines of the System Safety Program by being alert to physical hazards which affect operations, including the modification of, recognition or cessation of operations when conditions exist or could develop that would conflict with a safe operating environment for Amtrak or others.
Ensures compliance with FDA Consent Decree on trains and facility.
Supervised transit operations, ensuring consist is adequately manned, movement orders are clearly understood.
Conductor and K-Tower are in contact and the crew is thoroughly briefed in tasks conduct of duties.
Directs progress of the consist coordinating with Control Center by radio or who produces the make-up sheet interfacing with the Conductor and K-Tower Train Directors to ensure follow-through.
Coordinates with Maintenance of Equipment, Service and Inspection, Ivy City to ensure they are aware of arrival times for turnaround and running repair of consists.
Maintains understanding of operating characteristics, operating and safety rules, applicable timetable, air brake operation, electrical heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
Reviews safety reports to ensure operation of the consist is in compliance with FRA, Rule 229 and the Maintenance Analysis Program for turnaround/layover maintenance.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills that are concise and clear.
Demonstrated skills using Microsoft software, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED, business or related field or equivalent work experience, training, and/or education.
Some experience in train operations COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
The hourly rate is $30.
69 - $40.
92 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
