Job Details
Setting/Clinic Details:
  • Strictly outpatient, primary care practice setting, in a very PA friendly environment with opportunities to grow
  • Schedule is Monday through Friday 8-5, with the option to work 4 10 s. Urgent Care is open in Susanville on Saturdays.
  • Typical patient volume is 13-16 patients per 8-hour shift or 20 patients in a 10-hour shift.
  • You will have the opportunity to see patients of all age groups.

Summary
The Physician Assistant will plan, direct, and evaluate resident and employee health care in ambulatory health services; examine and treat chronic and acute episodic illnesses, minor injuries, accidents, and other injuries/illnesses; performs selected laboratory testing; offer referrals to physicians, write prescriptions, and perform office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. The Physician Assistant will also work with the medical director in the care and treatment of patients and staff.
Responsibilities
  • Meets with new residents to orient them about services, to identify needs, and to suggest local physicians and services.
  • Sees ambulatory patients in the health services office for laboratory testing, examination, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic and acute episodic illnesses and minor injuries. Refers to physician as needed. Writes prescriptions and performs office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. Makes house calls when necessary. Schedules follow-up visits in office or unit as needed.
  • Ability to accurately diagnose common medical problems and initiate treatment or make referral to physician as indicated
  • Skill to recognize and evaluate situations that call for a physician's immediate attention and, when necessary, initiate treatment procedures
  • Experience with accurately documenting findings, notes, and results in an Electronic Health Records system
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with patients, public, staff, and other departments and agencies
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Team oriented; dedicated to collaborative and collective accomplishments consistent with the Agency's priorities and goals

Qualifications
  • One (1) year of experience in an acute care environment required (will consider training newly graduated PA if operational conditions allow)
  • Critical thinking skills and computer skills required
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required (must be certified through the American Heart Association)
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university Physician Assistant program
  • Possession of a Certificate or Letter of Approval to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the California Board of Medical Examiners
