Duties
In conjunction with the other Branch Directors, the Director supervises and directs the work of Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, Special Litigation Counsel, Special Counsel, attorneys and staff. The Director analyzes and reviews proposed compromise settlements, with authority to reject any offers in compromise and authority to accept offers or settle administratively claims within the Director's scope of delegation authority. Additionally, the Director advises and consults with staff on new program orientations or directives and ensures that adequate resources will be available for implementation within the Branch. The incumbent analyzes and reviews proposed and pending legislation which may affect the work of the Branch. The Director provides advice and serves as a consultant to the Deputy Assistant Attorney General, the Assistant Attorney General and other officials within the DOJ and throughout the Executive Branch on matters concerning his/her areas of responsibility. Finally, the Director makes decisions involving the management of personnel, budget resources, and operational issues of concern to the Branch and ensures that personnel management activities (including the selection, development, assessment, and promotion of employees) are performed in accordance with the provisions of Merit Promotion and Equal Opportunity.

As a basic requirement for entry into the SES, applicants must provide evidence of progressively responsible leadership experience that is indicative of senior executive level management capability and directly related to the skills and abilities outlined under the Mandatory Technical Qualifications and Executive Core Qualifications.
Applicants must be a graduate from a full course of study in a School of Law accredited by the American Bar Association and be a member in good standing of the bar of a state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

Qualifications include both general management skills and characteristics that are applicable to all SES positions and technical or program responsibilities specific to this position. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
