DutiesAs the Chief of Staff, you will perform the following duties:Leading cross and multi-functional teams, working to deliver on and communicate services and products, and ensuring the organization meets all established goals, timelines, and milestones, while also ensuring the successful completion of projects involving the substance of key NOAA-wide programs.Applies policy expertise and management skills to the analysis of key issues, communication of information, and making recommendations to ensure the alignment of the Communications Office with all relevant policies and requirements for continual NOAA operations.Exercises delegated authority to oversee the overall planning, direction, and timely execution of programs.Serves as a principal contact within the Office of Communications and the NOAA staff and line offices, and with NOAA HQ for senior leaders.Requirements Conditions of EmploymentThis position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). This system replaced the Federal GS pay plan and structure. Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band.The ZA-5 is equivalent to the GS-15. NOTE: A one year supervisory probationary period may be required.

Experience: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Experience: Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZA-4 (GS-14) in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:Planning or leading projects or teams, such as assigning work, setting priorities, and providing feedback on work assignments; andProviding guidance to employees, administrative staff, and management on policies and procedures.Education

Additional informationSalary for selectee's pay may be set at any point within the pay band except for intervals 4 and 5 which is reserved for supervisory performance or for current supervisors within CAPS who already have a salary within intervals 4 and 5.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
