Community Outreach and Marketing Coordinator

A small DC law firm that represents veterans in obtaining disability benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs is currently
seeking an outreach coordinator to manage and grow a new outreach and marketing program.
The majority of the work is focused in DC, but also includes some opportunities in adjacent cities in Maryland and Virginia.¬
The outreach coordinator is responsible for identifying, establishing, and maintaining community partnerships in the DC area that advance the firm¬ s goal of expanding homeless veteran outreach and that complement the firm¬ s reputation for excellence and integrity.¬ The coordinator will also identify and engage in marketing opportunities that open new streams of business and help raise the profile of the firm and its community-based work.¬
The outreach coordinator works largely independent of supervision, but must work closely with attorneys, support staff, and community partners.¬ The coordinator must be professional, resourceful, highly organized, outgoing, and comfortable with public speaking.
The position requires regular local travel and occasional long distance travel.
Duties include, but are not limited to
- Participate in the formulation of a plan to develop and expand the program
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the DC homeless community and disadvantaged populations, with an emphasis on the veteran population
-¬ Learn the veteran¬ s disability benefits process and understand the basic legal framework
- Initiate and maintain relationships with community and business partners
- Draft professional letters of introduction and ongoing communications
- Maintain records of clients, events, activities, and achievements
- Prepare high quality presentation materials that reflect the firm¬ s reputation for excellence and integrity
- Provide reports as directed
The ideal candidate will possess
Bachelor¬ s degree in marketing, public relations, human services or related field
Four years of relevant experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

Compensation: $55k-$60K a year, plus $200 a month towards health insurance.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
