Legal Secretary

Established Washington, DC law firm has an immediate opening for an experienced full-time Legal Secretary.¬ Position will be responsible for the accurate completion of work assigned by multiple timekeepers in health, education, and regulatory practice areas.¬ Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: preparing correspondence and legal documents (varies by practice area), entering attorney time, making travel arrangements, setting-up and maintaining client files, scheduling meetings, submitting expense reports, answering telephones, and providing occasional reception desk coverage. Candidates may perform basic research on clients and matters using firm databases and online resources, and process filings (electronic or physical) with state and federal courts as required by assigned attorney¬ s practice.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of law firm experience.¬ Corporate/transactional background preferred.¬ Health, education, regulatory, legislative or some litigation experiences a plus.¬ Candidates must possess a strong commitment to provide quality work product and client service, and demonstrated initiative and ability to work well with others, courteous, professional communication skills are a must.¬ Candidates must have previous experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), document management and time entry software.¬ The successful candidate must be flexible to work occasional overtime.¬ High School diploma or its equivalent required;¬ AA Certificate or 4-year degree preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
