Project

Parsons is in process of executing deliverables for commuter and freight rail systems in the US. In addition to these exciting endeavors, we are currently retained on other rail and transit projects around the globe. Our track record includes delivering engineering, construction management and program management
services
on more than 400 passenger and freight rail and transit systems around the world and on high-speed rail projects in 20 US states.

Need

Parsons is seeking an energetic and versatile Intern to support the Rail & Transit team. Candidates may have academic backgrounds and be pursuing career paths in the following disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical or Structural. In addition, Civil and/or Environmental Engineering Students fill critical needs during the planning, bidding and design phases of many of our facilities projects.

Responsibilities

Under direction of a degreed engineer, performs a variety of basic to moderately-difficult engineering support assignments requiring a fundamental knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques. The incumbent at this level typically takes engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, etc., and formalizes them into working drawings. Assignments are designed to develop a practical knowledge of equipment, facilities, and systems, and their interrelationships within a particular engineering discipline.

Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of basic arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, etc., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.

Utilizes technical manuals and directives to ensure compliance with codes and company policies. Becomes familiar with various standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME.

Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications

Requirements

- Incumbent must be enrolled in an Engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university and have completed at least one year of studies in a major Engineering discipline (e.g., Civil / Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.)
- Demonstrated interest, academic focus and/or preferred internship in transportation engineering required
- Familiarity with CAD - Microstation or Autocad required

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
