Lead Civil/3D Designer - Major Transportation Projects

Position Overview:
Serves as Lead 3D Designer for all phases of major Transportation project. Provides technical guidance to project design and drafting personnel, and functions as liaison with client, suppliers, and contractors regarding design issues. 3D Designer will support Design and Design/Build projects in DC and
virginia
area. Draws upon diversified design experience to lead lower-level Designers and Drafters in completing the most difficult and complex design assignments, generally utilizing 3D CAD methods.

Responsibilities:
3D Modeling, including pre-bid, finalization and optimization of transportation project models, specifically in Road/Highway and Rail/Transit projects.
Coordinates execution of work assignments with respect to design approach, schedules, standards, budgets, and procedures to meet client scope of work requirements. Provides manpower estimates as required.
Provides technical guidance to project design team in completing the most complex and difficult designs and layouts for complete systems and components of a project. Assignments typically involve design elements for which there may be no clearly established precedents and require anticipation of problems at the outset in order to provide appropriate solutions.
Provides direction to a team of checking personnel, ensuring the mathematical accuracy of the drawings produced.
Performs specialized design computations and analysis for major transportation projects.
Performs interdisciplinary reviews and provides coordination of data to ensure a compatible design.
Ensures compliance with required specifications, tolerances, safety factors, and industry codes, as well as client requirements and company standards.
Understands and applies commonly used company design standards and methods. Provides input to the establishment or revision of guidelines and standards.
Collaborates with Engineers and other engineering disciplines to ensure quality of design.
May train lower-level Designers in various procedures.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications

Requirements:
4 year degree in Engineering or equivalent is strongly preferred, but would consider candidates with Associates degree with additional years of relevant/related experience
10
years of relevant experience with roadway and rail projects
Knowledge of VDOT, FHWA, and AREMA standards
Must have Track Alignment experience
Minimum of 4 years 3D modeling experience using one of the following: 3D Microstation / InRoads or GeoPak
Highway and/or Rail Design experience on large projects
Experience on design-build projects, performing 3D designs.
Must be able to work independently and direct other designers/engineers.
Must be able to interface/work directly with Contractors for field needs including quantities.
Full understanding of production for large final design projects
Experience shall include developing digital terrain models (DTM's), generating horizontal alignment/vertical profiles and proficient use of 3d Microstation, Inroads or GeoPak.
Prefer VDOT plan development experience including roadway, traffic control, signing & striping, drainage, SW3P, design cross sections and quantity calculations.
Must be able and enjoy, working in a fast paced environment, working with multiple disciplines with aggressive deadlines.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
