Writing and editing reports, news articles or other publications to report on the work of the agency;

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You qualify for the GS-11 if you possess one of the following:
1. One year of specialized experience performing duties such as preparing accurate and detailed reports, memoranda, and briefings to provide informational responses to Congress and the public; editing documents for release and verifying their content to assure the release of accurate information, proper format and language suitable for distribution; drafting personal correspondence that required a broad knowledge of publishing concepts, practices, standards, and information release procedures; and determining and tracking assignments of high-level correspondence from internal and external sources.
2. A PH.D. or equivalent degree or three years of graduate level education leading to such a degree form an accredited or pre-accredited college or university; OR
3. A combination of successfully completed graduate level education in excess of 2 years and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts.
You qualify for the GS-12 level if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent performing duties such as:
Researching data and applying principles, methods, and knowledge of written communication through the effective use of grammar, spelling, punctuation, format and editorial markings;
Writing/editing newsletters or other official publications and achieving objectives through problem solving abilities; and
Gathering, assessing and prioritizing information and utilizing computerized publication design and composition to write copy.

Background Investigation: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment in order to promote the agency's core values of vigilance, service to country and integrity. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
