Responsibilities - Work with the LPD 17 Class Manager identifying, researching and resolving technical and engineering issues related to LPD 17 Class ships. - Resolve complex cost, schedule and technical issues associated with LPD 17 CNO Availabilities. - Support the Program Office through a sound understanding of the Navy Budgeting process. - Draw from a practical familiarity of waterfront operations and players involved. - Attended Availability Progress and Lessons Learned Reviews with the LPD 17 Ship Manager as subject matter expert. - Draw from a good understanding of fleet and Navy/private shipyard operations in the development of briefs and point papers in support of the Mine Warfare, Amphibious, Auxiliary and Command (MAAC) Program Manager. - Support the development of policies and procedures as well as acquisition of equipment that promotes increased ship readiness and Operational Availability. - Represent the LPD 17 Ship Manager at engineering and programmatic meetings.
Qualifications: - Bachelor s degree plus 10 years directly relevant work experience. - Educational requirements may be waived for more than 15 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data. - Prior Navy experience as a junior officer or CPO. - Good understanding of Microsoft applications required, particularly Excel and Powerpoint. - Must be highly productive operating within an independent work environment and have strong interpersonal skills working one-on-one with individuals ranging from shipyard personnel to Flag-level Navy. - Understanding of waterfront operations a significant benefit. - Familiarity with the Navy budgeting process a plus. - Prior Navy experience on Amphibious ships also a plus. - Limited travel. - Ability to acquire a Government security clearance.
