IT Strategist

Key Role:
Provide IT strategy consulting services as part of a team, supporting VA in developing the IT vision and strategy with VA OI&T's VistA Evolution program. Support the VA's IT programs by engaging with stakeholders, marketing enterprise design patterns, and collecting feedback and lessons learned. Research existing and emerging technologies, analyze their potential impact to VA, and produce written documents and slide decks that summarize findings and conclusions. Relate technical and strategic IT documents to identify relationships and potential areas for improved coordination with other OI&T pillars. Work with project leadership to define client requests and assume ownership of tasks through completion. Coordinate and track project milestones, collect and track comments from internal and external stakeholders, and maintain change control to documentation.
Basic
Qualifications:
-2 years of experience in a federal government IT environment or in the health IT industry
-Experience with technology trends, including mobile health, big data, and open source, applying them to a government IT environment
-Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
-Knowledge of IT concepts, principles, practices, procedures, and techniques
-Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with remote clients and colleagues
-Public Trust clearance
Additional
Qualifications:
-Experience with conducting technology research and applying findings in a strategic planning environment, including investment planning or portfolio management
-Knowledge of VA, including its IT organization, planning and programming process, or IT reporting requirements
-Knowledge of Microsoft Project or Visio or Adobe InDesign a plus
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
-BS in IT or in a related field
