Responsibilities
OBXtek is currently staffing for a WordPress Developer/Integrator at the Department of State in the IIP Office of Design.
IIP is accelerating digital innovation to deliver beautiful products rapidly. The bureau is moving to adopt a more flexible, experimental approach to digital product development backed by data and analytics.
The candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of WordPress development to include creation, configuration, maintenance, and API integration. The tasks will include the following:
Build websites using WordPress to support digital and public diplomacy campaigns
Integrate campaign websites with social media and third-party tools via APIs
Install and configure WordPress using standards set by Bureau
Install and configure WordPress plugins
Run basic database administrative scripts via SQL or PHPMyAdmin
Incorporating all necessary HTML and CSS into Wordpress themes, templates and additional PHP and HTML pages
WordPress development including theme and individual template development, plugin tweaks, new feature development
Extending, managing, improvements to and debugging of some legacy code
PHP and HTML development outside of WordPress for landing pages, microsites, etc.
Development within a multiple server configuration including development, staging and production servers
Documentation of work, commenting, and proper organization of code so end users and other team members can use and work with individually developed code
Qualifications
Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and retain a Secret Clearance.
This individual needs to be project-driven with outstanding customer service skills and a project management orientation.
The ideal candidate will be creative, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. Additional Experience, to include:
Expert knowledge of WordPress (Plugin / theme development / API)
Strong PHP development skills
HTML, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, and CSS skills
Good working experience in MySQL including the use of efficient SQL commands
Strong experience building HTML/CSS across the major browsers
Experience with modern source control (Git, Beanstalk)
Strong organizational skills, structured thinking, and development methodology
Detail-oriented, and can get the job done
Ability to work quickly and patiently as part of a small team
Meets deadlines and clearly communicates any deviations from planned timeline
Demonstrable experience building complex WordPress websites
Experience using Linux command line
Comfortable and successful working in development teams
Experience using third-party APIs (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, etc)
Experience with other open source software (e.g., Drupal, Joomla) a plus
Education
Formal education such as a bachelor's degree in computer science, programming, web development or commensurate professional experience
