Job Description
As a Data Analyst you will leverage data and statistics to revolutionize Kaplan Professional Education's platforms and products to drive meaningfully better outcomes for our clients and students.
Key Job Responsibilities
Problem Definition:
Assess work requests and determine the problem to be solved
Converse with stakeholders to ensure problem is accurately defined
Gather and generate hypotheses as to what solutions might exist
Data Preparation / Analysis:
Determine all data points to be collected to analyze the problem
Gather data from disparate sources (APIs, databases, files, and, documents)
Clean and merge data sets to make broader data sets for analysis
Perform exploratory analysis to understand the nature of data sets
Identify relationships, patterns, and, driving factors in data
Build, evaluate, and refine predictive models over time
Recommend Solutions:
Synthesize outcomes from analysis and distill into feasible solutions
Communicate key findings in data using intuitive visualizations
Present findings and recommendations to business executives
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in quantitative discipline
0-3 years' experience
Solid skills in R/Python to perform job responsibilities
Sound knowledge of what methods to apply based on the problem to be solved
Sound knowledge of the best way to visually communicate data to lay audiences
Firm grasp of the scientific method and how to conduct experiments
Willingness to learn what is needed to get the task done
Attention to detail and a good grasp of task feasibility /effort
Strong desire/passion to work in education and to educate
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a commercial environment (1-2 years)
Experience applying data analysis techniques to different business problems
Experience using source control such as GitHub / Git for scripts
Experience using AWS to manage data (S3, data pipeline, Redshift, and, EMR)
Experience with T-SQL and MySQL database querying and optimization
Experience with business intelligence toolsets such as SRRS and Tableau
Experience presenting findings within spreadsheet, document, and, slide format
Experience working in a lean culture (Gemba, Standard Work, A3, MDI)
Quantitative degree, preferably at the Master's level

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
