Embryologist I

Position Summary
Reports to IVF laboratory supervisor and is responsible for the daily operation of the IVF lab. Responsibilities include monitoring quality control standards and procedures, reporting equipment malfunctions, and keeping current with new technologies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Processes all Andrology related procedures including complete semen analysis, IUI, TDIUI, and sperm freezing
2. Responsible for the routine maintenance of the Andrology and Hormone lab, ordering supplies, quality control, quality assurance program of the lab, record keeping, providing stats, and training of new personnel.
3. Performs all Hormone lab related procedures- responsibilities include running Roche machine (Estradiol, Progesterone, hCG, LH and FSH testing) and resulting.
4. Performs IVF procedures including:
sperm processing, oocyte retrievals, oocyte handling, embryo assessment and handling, freezing and thawing of oocytes and embryos.
5. Performs Intracytoplasmic sperm injection and Assisted Hatching
6. Performs Blastomere and Trophectoderm Biopsy and cell preparation for genetic analysis.
7. Participation in Proficiency Testing
8. Aids in maintaining CAP and CLIA certifications.
9. Responsible for the routine maintenance of the IVF lab, quality control, quality assurance program of the labs, and record keeping.
10. Participation in research projects.
11. Database management, data entry, etc.
12. Provide weekend and holiday coverage as assigned.
13. Ordering of supplies.
14. Chart filing and scanning into the IVF Laboratory's EMR.
15. Tasking and distribution of reports.
16. Performs other duties necessary in the support of Laboratory activities, as needed.
RequirementsQualifications

Education Bachelor's or Masters in Chemical, Physical, Biological, Medical Technology, Clinical, or Reproductive Laboratory Science from an Accredited Institution;
Experience Not required
Competencies Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to follow and understand instructions, and react favorably in all work situations. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people at various levels within and outside the Medical Faculty Associates (MFA). Must be able to do math calculations and input data into the computer.
Supervision Received
Administrative and functional supervision is received from the Laboratory Director; functional supervision is received from the Embryologist.
