UW Continuum College (UWC2) has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director of Software Engineering to lead our software development team.
The Assistant Director of Software Engineering is responsible for development, software architecture, and leading a team of developers.
The Assistant Director of Software Engineering's team is responsible for creating, integrating, and supporting key Continuum College software systems including our student information system (SIS), Salesforce, content management systems, and business intelligence systems.
This role will also provide guidance on software development practices, technologies, and integrations with other teams.
Additionally, this role will have oversight of many data and business intelligence related initiatives and systems.
Success in this role requires:
Knowledge and experience developing content management systems (eg Kentico), customer relationship systems (eg Salesforce), and business intelligence systems (eg SQL Server, Power BI) Experience as a technical lead and functional manager of software developers Up to date and hands on software development skills Working collaboratively with UWC2 Project Management Office and IT Teams on joint initiatives Representing UWC2 software interests with the UW-IT department Fostering positive working relationships through proactive communication and collaboration with other UWC2 departments and occasionally with UWC2 senior leadership A passion for our values:
diversity and respect for all, a never-ending pursuit of excellence, integrity, and trust & openness RESPONSIBILITIES Supervising a team of 5-8 software engineers to maintain and create new systems to support all of Continuum College, which includes:
o Assigning and monitoring work o Maintaining and recruiting software development staff o Serving as a technical lead o Providing structure and best practices for the team Hands on development and integration of new and existing software systems Developing and maintaining system architectures for high value systems Consulting with other Continuum College departments around software development needs Ensuring appropriate software system documentation is created and maintained Other duties as required UWC2 team members bring their talents to a successful, respected and financially self-sustaining continuing education environment that values collaborative decision-making, innovative solutions and environmentally sound green practices.

REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science (or other relevant discipline) and 4 to 6 years of experience in a similar management and development role Strong development and management experience creating and maintaining systems that use content management systems (preferably Kentico), customer relationship management systems (preferably Salesforce), and business intelligence systems Experience developing and managing projects using the Microsoft product stack such as:
o Classic ASP, ASP.
NET, C#, MVC, SQL Server/SSIS/SSAS/SSRS, Visual Studio Experience with web scripting languages and tools such as:
o HTML, jQuery, JavaScript, XML, XSLT, CSS, Node Knowledge of business intelligence concepts such as data warehousing design, data cubes, predictive modeling, KPIs, and dashboards/scorecards In depth experience architecting, integrating, and maintaining enterprise software systems from different vendors Experience developing and managing systems in a cloud environment (eg AWS/Azure) Experience with agile software development practices Ability to work independently with general supervision Excellent communication skills, both oral and written DESIRED Experience working in a university, education, or government setting Experience developing and/or maintaining student information systems Experience with cloud-based data warehousing and hybrid architectures Salesforce.
