Public Affairs Specialist

Serve as a primary agency spokesperson on a variety of complex, often controversial, issues with tight deadlines. Develop and implement strategic communication plans in coordination with colleagues at the local, regional and nationals levels. Develop, write, and disseminate communication products. Research and respond to requests for information from the media. Plan and execute complex public announcements and special events. Supervise subordinate staff. Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
recommending communication strategies to management; serving as an on-the-record spokesperson on high-profile, sometimes controversial issues; implementing professional communication tactics; creating high quality communication products (e.g. news releases, communication plans, talking points); applying best practices in media relations (e.g. pitching stories, maintaining relationships, correcting inaccuracies). You must include hours per week worked. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Volunteer

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
