Quality Assurance Specialist

LMI, a not-for-profit strategic consulting organization focused on the federal government, is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist.
This position is located in the National Capital Region.
With the threat of transnational terrorism and ongoing development of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) by nations potentially hostile to the US, DHS has taken steps to integrate the full range of its radiological/nuclear, chemical, and biological threat detection programs.
As the focal point for this effort, DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) requires consulting and program management support that can reinforce and better enable a more dynamic and operationally-focused DHS strategy.
The person selected for this position shall assist the Director of Quality Assurance (DQA) in the execution of the QA Program which covers Biodetection Field and Laboratory Operations.
This is a unique opportunity to make a significant contribution to the defense of the Nation in a new and developing office.
Please note:
This position will be located on a client site.
Finalists must be able to pass a DHS Suitability Check and Secret Clearance.
Interface with the Biodetection QA Contractor to coordinate activities related to the implementation and execution of the Biodetection QA program.
Provide technical assistance to the QA contract staff, the sample standards laboratory, and all Biodetection laboratories on performance and proficiency testing, as requested.
Provide technical assistance in support of field and laboratory root cause analysis and corrective action response.
Review and comment on QA Program documents provided by the QA Contractor and Biodetection laboratory and field partners.
This includes, but is not limited to, quality assurance program plans, test plans, data evaluations, QA reporting, audit reports, and corrective action reports.
Perform the functions of a technical expert in the relevant scientific field in support of quality assurance for major programs or system development.
Support the Quality Assurance Specialist 2 in application of scientific expertise in defining and resolving system issues, performing analysis, and developing plans and requirements in the subject-matter area for complex systems.
Support planning activities, and root cause outcomes.
Coordinate and manage the preparation of analysis, evaluations, and recommendations for proper implementation of programs and systems.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology or related field.
Ability to obtain high-level clearance and DHS suitability clearance 12 years of experience in laboratory based science generating analytical results from testing of clinical or environmental samples as well as active participation in Quality Assurance/Quality Control (or 7 years with Master's degree).
Qualifications:
Active high-level clearance (current DHS Suitability preferred) Master's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology or related field.
Knowledge and experience in CBRN material as well as an understanding of the hazards associated with their manufacture, transport and use.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
