The MTED conducts economic research, economic intelligence gathering, analysis, data development and dissemination on the relationships among agricultural production, economic conditions, US and foreign policies.
ResponsibilitiesOverseeing the planning, development, and review of the Division program of commodity market outlook and analysis.
Supervising a team of web technicians and the Assistant Outreach Editor.
Providing quality assurance for outlook publications.
Communicating technical, economic, and statistical outputs from the Division?s outlook and analysis program in nontechnical ways to high-level government officials, other professionals, and representatives of private sector interests.
Serving as an authoritative contact within the Agency on issues concerning a wide range of market and trade economics specialty areas including agricultural commodity analysis, agricultural policy and programs, and agricultural economic indicators.

Basic Requirements:
A.
Degree:
A bachelor's (or higher) degree in economics that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
OR B.
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
AND In addition to the basic requirement above, all applicants must meet the following minimum

At the GS-15 Level:
Qualifying experience for GS-15 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-14 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to perform successfully the duties of the position.
For this position, specialized experience is experience planning and coordinating a program providing economic analysis and market intelligence data for a wide variety of agricultural commodity markets; using advanced quantitative tools to analyze commodity market data and policy; disseminating analytical results and market outlook to a variety of audiences, to include publishing in peer-reviewed publications; and supervising a team.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (eg, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (eg, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
