Major Duties for the Supervisory IT Specialist (Director of Cybersecurity):
Ensures proper corporate wide security control mechanisms are in place to support business control objectives in all AmeriCorps automated business processes. Oversees the selection and implementation of security technologies for supporting enterprise wide security compliance activities and oversees operation of these systems. Develops/integrates cybersecurity architectures and/or requirements for systems with financial security requirements or requirements for the processing of financial data primarily applicable to government organizations and repository institutions. Establishes cybersecurity requirements for critical business functions in collaboration with AmeriCorps stakeholders. Provides integration of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework process activities and related documentation (e.g., system life-cycle support plans, concept of operations, operational procedures, and maintenance training materials). Advises the CIO and Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) as to long range direction to the OIT program areas. Establishes priorities and assigns resources to program areas based on the AmeriCorps CIO, and DCIO needs. Provides consultation with the CIO and DCIO in the development of yearly planning, budget, security, configuration, and problem management processes. Provides advice on security project costs, design concepts, or design changes, and models. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the lower pay range of the NY04/NX-01 pay level, which would be at or equivalent to, the GS-14 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes experience demonstrated directly related to:
Leading and developing criteria, assessments, and validation of enterprise wide security architectures; and, Determining how the components included in a system architecture is organized to ensure that security requirements are met for an organization's short and long term direction. Collaborating with key officials both within and outside the organization to gain understanding and support for all aspects of the program and program functions. Supervising and performing the full range of managerial duties (e.g., performance appraisals, distributing work) of a team that performs program development and delivery Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps VISTA) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Such experience must be clearly documented in the applicant's resume.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
