Management Support Specialist

As the Management Support Specialist, you would perform a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with the financial management and procurement activities, along with the following duties:
Orders supplies, products, services, and equipment for the Museum staff. Enters travel authorizations and vouchers in the Smithsonian's travel system following Smithsonian travel policies. Runs reports and queries in the Enterprise Resources Planning financial systems. Tracks a variety of federal and trust funds. Prepares reports on funds obligated on purchase orders, travel authorizations and contracts. Responds to queries and requests for help from administrative staff, resolving routine issue. GS-7:
You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized experience is defined as applying policies, procedures, regulations, funding sources, budget and/or financial practices, and guides; utilizing automated financial database/reporting systems to enter, correct and retrieve factual information and compile reports; and applying concepts and principles of financial management functions.OR Education:
One full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.OR Combination:

You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized experience is defined as providing budget, financial, and procurement support; processing and tracking financial transactions, preparing travel authorizations, petty cash claims, and requisitions; making charge card purchases, using computer software programs/applications to enter data related to Financials, Human Resources, and Web Time/Attendance; developing spreadsheets; and working as a member of a project team in a museum setting, and providing budget tracking and procurement support to Project Managers. OR Education:
master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR Combination:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
