Supervisory Accountant

Duties Help Duties Summary As the Chief of Financial Reporting & Analysis (FRA), Financial Services (FS), Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), you will be responsible for leading, directing, collaborating via a shared services provider and coordinating OPM financial reporting, analysis and related audit coordination.
The FRA Chief supervises staff and manages all activities related to accounting operations for the organization.
The Chief reports to the Associate CFO for Financial Services.
Learn more about this agency Responsibilities Serve as the technical authority and resident expert regarding financial reporting for all accounting operations, activities and funding sources.
Provide oversight, review and execution of various financial reports required by Federal statutes and regulations.
Determine impact of legislative, regulatory, other external directives and guidance, and internal decisions and changes on Agency reporting and or accounting operations.
Provide advice to OPM senior leadership, program managers, and other accountants/analysts on resolving difficult accounting issues Coordinate the annual reporting and auditing processes with OPM Office of Inspector General and the independent public accountant (IPA).
Oversee the preparation of annual financial statement schedules and calendars, establishes and assigns due dates and deadlines in coordination with the OIG and external auditor, monitors and reports progress and compliance with schedules milestones.
Serve as Financial Services key POC to FAA shared services provider to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Performs other duties and conducts special projects as assigned.

You must have a degree in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
(The term accounting means accounting and/or auditing in this standard.
Similarly, accountant should be interpreted, generally, as accountant and/or auditor.
) OR A combination of education and experience -- at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
The applicants background must also include one of the following:
Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality.
This can include up to 6 hours of business law.
A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination.
AND Have one year of experience equivalent to the GS-14 level performing duties including serving as the technical authority, subject matter and expert, and financial management consultant on operations and administration of an agency's financial accounting programs.
This would include managing agency accounts receivables and accounts payable activities, managing and overseeing the preparation of consolidated financial statement and periodic financial statement reports preparation, coordinating annual reporting and audit processes, developing and recommending policies, procedures, and updated management controls to ensure effective and efficient financial management operations.
Experience also includes a working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Programs (ERPs), ie Oracle, SAP, Momentum, or financial reporting tools and experience working with a Shared Services Provider.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
