EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT:
Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.
All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
In this position, you will serves as a program specialist in the Office of the Administrator, specifically in the role of the Alternate Designated Federal Officer National Advisory Council (NAC).
The National Advisory Council (NAC), established by Congress in the Post Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act (PL 109-295) provides advice and recommendations to the Administrator on the broad spectrum of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) programs, aiding in the creation and implementation of actionable policy relating to all aspects of emergency management.
Typical assignments include:
Determines objectives and strategies; organizes work, sets priorities, determines resources requirements.
Coordinates with other parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors and evaluates the progress and outcomes of operational plans; anticipates potential concerns or opportunities Drafts, coordinates and/or reviews one pagers, communications plans, membership selection plans, responses to official correspondence, and other internal and external documents.
Promotion Potential:
Future promotions will be dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and administrative approval.

COVID VACCINATION:
As required by Executive Order 14043, Federal employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee's duty location or work arrangement (eg, telework, remote work, etc.
), subject to such exceptions as required by law.

Qualifications Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.
The qualification requirements and time-in-grade requirement must be met on the closing date of this announcement.
GS-12 You qualify for this position at the GS-12 level (starting salary $87,198) if you possess the following:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11) in the Federal Service.
This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience.
Specialized experience for this position includes:
Supporting the creation and implementation of critical and actionable policy relating to Agency operations; -and- Gathering facts and providing analysis and recommendations, using FEMA and DHS policies to further organizational decision-making; -and- Working with senior level officials and staff to achieve results; -or- Knowledge of the principles/requirements of working with advisory boards or similar constative committees.
GS-13 You qualify for this position at the GS-13 level (starting salary $103,690) if you possess the following:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12) in the Federal Service.
This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience.
Specialized experience for this position requires all four (4) bullets:
Supporting the creation and implementation of critical and actionable policy relating to Agency operations; -and- Gathering facts and providing analysis and recommendations, using FEMA and DHS policies to further organizational decision-making; -and- Working with senior level officials and staff to achieve results; -and- Knowledge of the principles/requirements of working with advisory boards or similar constative committees.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (eg Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (eg, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and provides valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifications are based on breadth/level of experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
