The Office of the General Counsel is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate for a full-time permanent position as an Appellate Attorney within the Solicitor's Office. Must be a U.S. Citizen Must be in good standing with a recognized state bar A two-year trial period is required Generally, male applicants must be registered with the Selective Service A background investigation is required The Solicitor's Office in the Office of the General Counsel of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is seeking an experienced Appellate Attorney. Because the Commission has independent litigating authority, Solicitor's Office attorneys defend and enforce FERC orders and initiatives by preparing and filing briefs and other documents and presenting oral arguments before the U.S. Courts of Appeals. Solicitor's Office responsibilities also include litigation in the U.S. Supreme Court and, as appropriate, in U.S. District Courts and other courts. Applicants must be members in good standing of a recognized bar, and must demonstrate strong analytical, research, and presentation (writing/speaking) skills. Civil litigation experience (trial and/or appellate) is preferred; familiarity with energy law would be helpful. This position is included in the Bargaining Unit. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
