The Social Worker provides patient/family interventions to support patients and families in adjustment to episodes of acute and chronic illness; in coping with lifestyle changes precipitated by illness or disability; in carrying out discharge recommendations; and in addressing issues of terminal illness. Using a variety of treatment modalities, the Social Worker assists patients and families in the resolution of social, financial and emotional problems related to illness, health care, and rehabilitation. Masters Degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work. Two years of post graduate practice in a health care setting, preferably acute care. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Demonstrates creativity in the use of community based, insurance and financial resources to meet specific patient needs. Ability to relate with patients, families, co-workers, the multidisciplinary team and community agencies in a professional and sensitive manner. Communicates in a clear, concise, and logical manner in oral and written presentations. Computer skills to support patient care management activities, documentation of patient care and case finding. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Can assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed. District of Columbia Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) required; Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) preferred.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
