BIS's activities include regulating the export of sensitive goods and technologies; enforcing export control, and public safety laws; cooperating with and assisting other countries on export control and strategic trade issues; assisting U.S. industry to comply with international arms control agreements; and monitoring the viability of the U.S. defense industrial base.
This position is located in the Department of Commerce (DOC), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration (EA), Office of Nonproliferation and Treaty Compliance (NPTC), Treaty Compliance Division (TCD).
The incumbent serves as a Treaty Compliance Specialist responsible for planning and executing complex business/industry programs and functions essential to accomplishment of the employing unit's mission.
This vacancy is being concurrently advertised under merit assignment procedures for status candidates (those currently serving on a career/career-conditional appointment, reinstatement eligibles, or those eligible under special appointing authorities) under announcement BIS-ONTC-2015-0002 (MAP). Serves on USG Host Teams for inspections of U.S. chemical facilities by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), or of certain U.S. civil nuclear-related locations by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to demonstrate compliance with the treaty and to protect national security, confidential business and proprietary information.
Reviews the accuracy and consistency of declarations and reports to the OPCW and/or the IAEA.
Prepares technical and policy assessments of the CWC, the AP, and other national security or nonproliferation issues.

Security Clearance: This position requires a Secret security clearance. Any required investigations and clearances must be completed before the selectee can be placed in the position.

Work Environment: Generally, work is performed in a standard office setting, but periodically work is performed at U.S. industrial facilities. Occasionally, work will be performed overseas at U.S. Government missions to international treaty organizations.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
