The U.S. Department of Transportation, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration's (PHMSA) mission is to protect people and the environment from the risks inherent in transportation of hazardous materials - by pipeline and other modes of transportation.
This position is perfect for an experienced Paralegal Specialist with 2-3 years of experience in the federal government, a law firm or a corporation with strong organizational, writing and oral communication, research skills and the ability to work independently as well as a part of a team. The individual will support the attorneys within the office of Chief Counsel as well as the Government Information Specialist and must be able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.

Log in new FOIA requests and tracking the request from start to finish.
Coordinate searches for responsive records, monitoring due dates for responses and sending reminders that records are due.
Prepare administrative reports, and performing administrative duties including creating and preparing routine correspondence, documents and/or presentations; creating charts, graphs, tables, and briefing materials and slides, and proofreading, verifying, and editing materials for accuracy and clarity.
Research financial holdings for possible conflict with criminal laws and ethics regulations. Help prepare ethics training materials.
Conduct research for the preparation of legal opinions pertaining to safety enforcement.
Perform legal research on various topics, including retrieval of legislative bills, statutes and case law for attorneys.

to qualify on Experience , you must have one year of specialized experience equal or equivalent to the following:
Experience with FOIA as a Paralegal Specialist logging in new FOIA requests, preparing redaction of records for the Agency, tracking FOIA requests from start to finish, preparing administrative reports, and performing administrative duties including: creating and preparing routine correspondence, documents and/or presentations; creating charts, graphs, tables, and briefing materials and slides, and proofreading, verifying, and editing legal materials for accuracy and clarity.
Experience conducting legal research.
To qualify on Education, you must have:
2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree OR master's or equivalent graduate degree.
You can also qualify based on a combination of education and experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
