Communications Associate

We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Associate to join our Editorial department.
This position exists to help promote and facilitate accurate coverage of the findings from the Science family of journals - specifically Science Translational Medicine and Science Signaling - in the media worldwide.
This includes serving as a liaison between authors of forthcoming papers and their affiliated press officers, and some 6,000 journalists.
Part of serving the latter group, journalists, involves recruiting and/or creating multimedia content that they can use in their stories.
Another critical part of this role is the weekly construction of the press package on EurekAlert! - for both Science Translational Medicine and Science Signaling.

What You'll DoUpdates the Press Package pages on EurekAlert! weekly to represent the embargoed content in the forthcoming issues of Science Translational Medicine and Science Signaling Collects and properly formats author-submitted multimedia content for inclusion in the press package.
Recruits multimedia from researchers and their affiliated institutional press officers.
Tracks multiple articles and their content across several upcoming issue dates of both journals.
Communicates embargo guidelines to authors of forthcoming papers, and to their affiliated press officers.
Minimum QualificationsRequires a bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of communications experience.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including telephone/video calls and email.
Basic understanding of HTML, web design, and file sharing applications.
Proficiency with Microsoft office and Adobe programs including Photoshop.
Ability to speak knowledgably about scientific concepts and research article content.
Ability to brainstorm multimedia ideas.
Ability to track and manage several articles across several journal issue dates.
Comprehensive understanding of embargo guidelines.

The anticipated initial rate of compensation for this position is between $52,000 and $60,000 per year.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
